One day you’re singing in the aisles of a supermarket using a karaoke set that’s for sale.

The next day, you find out you may just get a chance to be on the hit US programme, “ The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.

Sounds far-fetched?

The fairy–tale scenario is turning out to be real for 21-year-old Zendee Rose Tenerefe who gained popularity after a YouTube video of her singing Grammy-award winning Jennifer Holiday’s ‘And I Am Telling You’ in a supermarket went viral (see video above).

The video was shot in a supermarket in SM Megamall which is located in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila.

The young up-and-coming Filipina says she was contacted online by one of the producers of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, requesting for a meeting.

Mind you, Zendee is not a complete nobody in the music business. She’s already a popular artiste in the Philippines and has already been signed to a major record company. She’s made appearances on Filipino television programmes as well. But hey, getting an e-mail from “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” is still a big deal for the Filipina. Oddly, Zendee enjoys singing in the SM Megamall and uses it as a platform for practice.

She made a second appearance at the same supermarket and sang the Whitney Houston hit, ‘I Will Always Love You’
