More car COEs for August-October period

There will be more COEs available in the August to October period, with the quota reaching 21,845, which is up from the previous quarter's 19,912, according to the Land Transport Authority's press release on Monday (Jul 13).

There will be more monthly COEs for cars in the upcoming three months. For instance, under Category A, which is for cars up to 1,600cc and maximum power output not exceeding 97kW, there will be 3,373 COEs up for grabs, up from the previous quarter's 2,853. 

Similarly, Category B, which is for cars above 1,600cc or maximum power output above 97kW, will see 2,112 COEs, which is more than the previous quarter's 1,856, while there will be an increase of 183 COEs monthly for the Open Category which is usually used for cars.

There will be an extra 57 COEs on offer each month for the motorcycle category, but the monthly number of COEs for Goods Vehicles and Buses will be more than halved from 736 in the previous quarter to 364. 

Bidding under this quota will start with the first COE bidding exercise in August 2015, it added.
