A 34-year-old woman was charged in court over the death of an elderly man at Yishun Ring Road on Monday (Nov 23).
Malaysian Woo Mui Mee, understood to be the man's tenant, was charged for voluntarily causing hurt to Mr William Wong. She had inflicted wounds on Mr Wong's left forehand with a paper cutter, the court heard.
Mr Wong, a 76-year-old retiree, was found lying motionless in a second floor unit at Block 114 Yishun Ring Road on Saturday at 10pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at 11.38pm, after SCDF officers forced their way into the flat.
Police are still investigating and Woo will be remanded for one week to assist with the case. It is likely the charge will be upgraded, police said in court this morning.
If convicted, Woo faces up to seven years' jail and a fine. The case will be mentioned again on Nov 30.
