A 42-year-old woman has been arrested for attempting to bribe a police officer, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a news release on Tuesday (Apr 19).

In an enforcement operation on Apr 14, the suspect allegedly offered Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Chan Wai Hoong a sum of S$10,000 in a bid to escape.

The officer, however, rejected the bribe and arrested her for attempting bribery. Commenting on the incident, ASP Chan said in a Facebook post: “I am committed to my duties as a police officer and the values of integrity and loyalty are important to me."

The case has been referred to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) for investigation, police added. She is also being investigated by the police for suspected involvement in vice activities under the provisions of the Women’s Charter.
