Services along the East-West Line were temporarily delayed on Thursday morning (Oct 6) due to a track fault near Paya Lebar MRT station.

Transport operator SMRT alerted commuters in a tweet at about 9.30am, informing that train services between Outram Park and Eunos MRT stations in the direction of Pasir Ris were delayed due to the track fault and to cater for additional travel time.

At 9.41am, SMRT tweeted another update to advise commuters to cater 15 minutes additional travel time at the affected stations.

According to commuter Jonathan Lim, his travelling time from Tiong Bahru to Lavender took about half an hour, which is 15 minutes more than the usual time he takes. The train that he was in stopped frequently between stations, each time for more than five minutes, Mr Lim added.

"There was a crowd when we got off at Bugis because we had to disembark from the train to wait for the next one," he said, adding that no further information were provided by SMRT.

At 10.21am, close to 50 minutes after its first alert on Twitter, SMRT informed that train services between Outram Park and Eunos MRT stations have resumed.

This is the second train disruption this week, following Tuesday's incident on the Downtown Line, where a dislodged platform door affected trains running between King Albert Park and Sixth Avenue stations during the morning peak period.
