Tigerair Flight PR 2177 from Thailand's Chiang Mai to Singapore made an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in the capital Bangkok on Tuesday (Jan 12) after a Singaporean man died on board, according to Thai media.

The 58-year-old passenger, named by Thai news site Khaosod as Mr Seet Ngow Chai, had been travelling with his Thai wife and three family members at the time.

Thai PBS reported that the man's wife told airport officials that her husband was suffering from chronic illness.

Further investigations are being carried out by Thai police. His body has been taken to the Police General Hospital for an autopsy, Thai PBS stated.
