A Singaporean male driver was killed in a car crash in Australia when his car collided head-on with another vehicle, on Monday (June 5).
The accident occurred in an area north of Perth, on Indian Ocean Drive near Ledge Point, at around 12.40pm, according to reports. He was reportedly driving an SUV, which collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle towing a caravan and was travelling in the opposite direction.
He died at the scene, said Australian media reports, which did not identify the man.
The Singaporean driver was travelling with his family, his wife and two children, who suffered injuries that were believed to be not life-threatening, and were taken to Joondalup Hospital.
The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to hospital.
The accident’s victims were picked up by a rescue helicopter, after witnesses reported that people were trapped inside the vehicles.
This was the second accident in the same area in less than two months, according to the Australian media.
On April 16, a stretch of the road was closed after a crash ended with three people flown to hospital.
As a result of Monday’s crash, Indian Ocean Drive was closed in both directions roughly 10km south of the Ledge Point turnoff for almost six hours.
