A 20-year-old male student is missing after he slipped from the rocks at Phuket’s Promthep Cape on Wednesday and fell into the waters below.
Singapore students Liu Shu Jian and Gao Yang had climbed onto the rocks at one of Phuket’s most popular tourist attractions to have their photos taken but lost their footing and slipped.
Liu, 21, managed grab onto rocks and was pulled to safety by his friends, while Gao, 20, fell into the sea.
Liu sustained scratches and bruises and was taken to the hospital in Phuket Town for treatment.
A search-and-rescue operation was launched after the Phuket Tourist Rescue Center was notified of the incident at 5.40pm.
However, the rescue team was forced to abandon the search at 8pm due to strong waves and the lack of light but Rawai Mayor Arun Soros said that the search would resume Thursday.
