Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on Tuesday (Aug 30) condemned a bombing at the Chinese embassy in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, saying that such attacks "cannot be condoned".

A car exploded after ramming the gates of the Chinese embassy in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek on Tuesday. Three staff members suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital, according to China's foreign ministry. Local medics said the driver of the car was killed.

In a statement, the MFA said that Singapore condemned the attack. "Such attacks against a foreign Embassy, which is a diplomatic compound protected under the Vienna Convention, cannot be condoned," it said. "We wish the injured a speedy recovery."

In a press statement on Tuesday, China's foreign ministry urged Kyrgyz officials to "get to the bottom of the incident". A ministry spokesperson said that no organisation has claimed responsibility for the attack, but branded it the work of "terrorists".
