Josephine Wang, the runner-up for women’s full marathon in yesterday’s Standard Chartered Marathon, has been disqualified on the grounds that she did not attempt the race in person.
Wang’s runner-up position was void due to the infringement of event rule 23, which states: “Participants are strictly not allowed to transfer their race entries to another party or change race categories after their registrations are confirmed”, the organisers said in a statement.
Wang confirmed in writing today that she passed her bib to another (as yet unnamed) participant to compete in her place.
She also apologised for the inconvenience caused.
The organisers announced that all positions of the women’s full marathon will be shifted up and the official reviewed result for the marathon is as follows:
1st: Qi Hui (03:17:06:51)
2nd: Neo Jie Shi (03:28:55:01)
3rd: Angie Tan Si Qi (03:31:59:50)
