Prosecutors seek at least 10 years’ jail for former tour guide Yang Yin

Prosecutors are seeking a jail term of between 10 and 12 years for former tour guide Yang Yin, after he was convicted of misappropriating S$1.1 million from an elderly Singaporean widow he had befriended.

The 42-year-old pleaded guilty last month to two counts of criminal breach of trust, throwing in the towel midway through his trial and after the prosecution, led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Sanjiv Vaswani, poked holes in his defence - that the money had been a generous gift.
