A 23-year-old maid was arrested for the alleged murder of her employer at a landed property near Eunos on Tuesday (Jun 7).
Police were alerted to the case at 8.48pm. Officers found the motionless body of a 59-year-old woman when they arrived at the unit along Lor H Telok Kurau. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Channel NewsAsia understands that the daughter-in-law of the woman called the police, reporting that a commotion took place earlier at a toilet on the second level of the house. When the husband of the victim rushed to the toilet, the domestic helper allegedly emerged, holding a knife.
The maid was subdued eventually with the help of a trio of motorcyclists who were in the vicinity after work. The men - a mechanic and two construction workers from Malaysia - said the husband of the victim had neck injuries and the maid appeared to have injured her hand and forehead.
The 57-year-old husband was sent to Changi General Hospital, along with the maid, who is also hurt.
Channel NewsAsia understands the domestic helper is one of two in the household.
Police have classified the case as murder.
