Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam on Friday (Oct 14) sent his condolences over the death of Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej to his wife Queen Sirikit and son and heir apparent Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn."
King Bhumibol was truly remarkable and had, throughout his long reign, worked tirelessly for the people of Thailand. The numerous projects launched by His Majesty brought deep and far-reaching benefits to all corners of the Kingdom," Dr Tan said in his letter to the Queen.
"History will remember King Bhumibol as a great monarch, and a unifying force deeply loved and respected by the Thai people and the rest of the world."
In his letter to the Crown Prince, Dr Tan said he and his wife are "deeply grieved" at the news and sent their condolences and sympathies.
"King Bhumibol was an outstanding King who dedicated his life to improving the welfare of his people and developing the Kingdom of Thailand. His contributions over his long reign will be fondly remembered not only by the people of Thailand, but also by the rest of the world," Dr Tan wrote.
"May the Kingdom of Thailand continue to progress and prosper," he added.
