Two people were taken to hospital after a beach tram travelling along Palawan Beach on Sentosa island braked to avoid hitting a lowering barrier on Saturday afternoon (Jun 25).

In a statement, Sentosa Development Corporation said the incident occurred at about 2pm.

"Our staff immediately attended to the affected guests and also called on the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) to render additional assistance," said a spokesperson for Sentosa Development Corporation. "Two guests were brought to hospital for medical attention. Among them was a female guest who was conveyed to the hospital by ambulance."

SCDF said it was alerted to the incident at about 2.07pm and despatched an ambulance to the scene. They conveyed a female in her 60s, who sustained a cut on her forehead and complained of neck pain, to Singapore General Hospital.
