What do you think about being paid £50,000 a year to talk about chocolate?
The job exists. It is real. You can talk about chocolate and earn enough to qualify for Philip Hammond's new higher tax threshold.
A company called French Selection (honestly, this isn't a joke), is looking for somebody to fill the role of, 'Brand Ambassador – Chocolate' . Yes.
The position, which comes under the 'sales and food' category on listings websites, offers a salary of £45,000, plus a £5,000 bonus, depending on experience.
French Selection is described as a "fast-growing food service company". This is likely true, given its ability to offer somebody £50,000 to say things like, "Yes hello, this chocolate is rather good, do try a square," while smiling and wearing a tailored suit. Maybe some brogues.
Duties also include things like representing the brand, developing a client portfolio of high-end hotels, restaurants, caterers and the like, building and maintaining relationships, prospecting for new customers, and creating something called an "action plan".
Sorry, but yes, there are other aspects to the role. It's not all chatting chocolate. Stats and things. Still.
Yes, chocolate really does feature in a big way. There's no doubt that for someone who appreciates the sweet richness of a solid bar of chocolate would enjoy the activities the role presents.
If you really are intrigued, you'll need to be fluent in English, have excellent presentation sills, have an interest in the food industry (French too), and lots of other attributes. The list of requirements is long.
Anyway. Good luck and all that. We imagine there'll be a few people going for this...
