China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent its condolences to Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong following the death of Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
"Mr Lee Kuan Yew was a politician who possessed unique influence on Asia. He was also a strategist with oriental values and international perspectives," read the statement.
"He was the creator and founder of China-Singapore bilateral relations and promoted the long-term mutually beneficial cooperation for the two countries, made historical contributions for the establishment and development the two nations.
"China expresses its deep condolences to Singapore, its people and Mr Lee's family and loved ones."
China's CCTV News also tweeted that Premier Li Keqiang and President Xi Jinping sent messages of condolences to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President Tony Tan Keng Yam respectively.
