The Council for Private Education (CPE) has filed charges with the Magistrate’s Court against two former managers of Kings International Business School.

In a media release on Wednesday (Jun 1), the council said charges for failing to comply with a direction issued by CPE to refund or place out students, as well as for providing of false information, were filed against Ms Pek Siew Gek and Mr Tang Yudong.

If convicted, the two former managers could each face a jail term of up to 12 months, or a fine of at least S$5,000.

The CPE reiterated that it will not hesitate to take errant operators to task should they contravene the Private Education Act and its Regulations, and will continue to “monitor the industry closely through unannounced inspections to ensure compliance”.
