SINGAPORE — The lawyer of blogger Roy Ngerng has expressed regret that the Ministry of Health (MOH) issued a public statement supporting Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s termination of its employment contract with Mr Ngerng.

In a letter to the hospital and MOH, lawyer M Ravi noted that both parties are not involved in the defamation lawsuit facing Mr Ngerng, who was a patient coordinator at TTSH’s Communicable Disease Centre. Mr Ravi said the outcome of the lawsuit is for the courts to determine, and sought restraint in the issuance of publicstatements about decisions and inferences relating to the subject of the lawsuit.

Mr Ngerng is being sued by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for allegations posted on his blog about misappropriation of Central Provident Fund moneybelonging to Singaporeans. Mr Ngerng was sacked by TTSH yesterday (June 10) and the MOH issued a statement saying it supports the hospital’s decision.
