The National Parks Board (NParks) said it has cancelled approvals granted to blogger Han Hui Hui to speak and demonstrate at the Speakers Corner on Saturday (Oct 25), on the advice of police. NParks and the Singapore Police Force announced this in a joint statement on Tuesday.
The statement said Ms Han and others are being investigated for a "Return Our CPF" event on Sep 27. On that day, Ms Han had led a protest march which encroached into an area of Hong Lim Park which the YMCA was using for a charity event. NParks and police had previously said their noisy conduct had frightened some special needs performers taking the stage at the YMCA carnival.
NParks said it will not approve further applications for use of Speakers Corner made by people under investigation for the Sep 27 event, until their cases are concluded.
Blogger Roy Ngerng who was at the event with Ms Han, was called up for questioning by police on Tuesday. He said he was quizzed for four hours and that the police were polite and treated him well.
