A 25-year-old man was on Monday (Sep 26) charged with murder, days after his father was found dead in the family's Bishan flat.
Sabri Aslam is accused of murdering his father, 60-year-old Aslam Alodin, between 8pm and 8.22pm on Saturday. He allegedly killed his father in the family's fifth-storey unit at Block 152B Bishan Street 11.
Police said they received a call at about 8.20pm on Saturday, after a neighbour heard sounds of things being thrown around in the flat, Channel NewsAsia understands.
Officers found Mr Aslam lying motionless when they arrived, and he was pronounced dead soon after. It was reported that there were no visible injuries on the victim.
Sabri arrived in court on Monday in an unmarked police car. He was brought into the courtroom supported by two officers. He could not walk unaided and was held up by officers as his charge was read to him.
Sabri has been remanded for psychiatric evaluation. His case will next be mentioned on Oct 17.
If found guilty, Sabri could face the death penalty.
