The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) is looking into public feedback on a dog that had apparently been kept on a chain for an extended period.
This comes after a post on the Facebook page of a group called Chained Dog Awareness in Singapore garnered attention online. The post alleged that the dog has become aggressive after being leashed for a long time, and looked to be in poor condition.
When asked about the whereabouts of the dog, the page administrator of Chained Dog Awareness in Singapore said in a comment that it is in the Siglap area.
In response to media queries, an AVA spokesperson said it has received feedback on this case on various occasions since 2014.
"We have inspected the premises on several occasions and checked on the overall living conditions of the dog and its well-being. Its welfare was not compromised and it was provided with adequate food, water and shelter," AVA said.
AVA added that while the dog was leashed, the leash was long enough for the dog to move freely in and out of its cage, which was covered.
As of Monday night, the Facebook post has been shared about 250 times. AVA also left a comment on the post asking for details.
