An anti-terror exercise will be held at Bishan on Thursday (Sep 8) to highlight the emergency responses of security officers and community members from the area as part of national security movement SGSecure, the Singapore Police Force said on Wednesday.

The exercise, which will be conducted from 9.30pm to 11pm at Bishan Bus Interchange and Junction 8 Shopping Centre, is the second part of annual emergency preparedness exercise Exercise Heartbeat. The first part was conducted at the Esplanade last week.

Thursday's drill will involve the community, members of the Safety and Security Watch Group, and the Singapore Civil Defence Force, SPF said.

“During the exercise, there will be firing of blanks within the bus interchange and vicinity of Junction 8. Members of the public are advised not be alarmed,” the police stated in a press release.

Public announcements will be made and exercise signage will be displayed at all exercise areas, the authorities said, adding that members of the public may call the police hotline at 1800-255-0000 if they have further queries.
