Seven men and a woman aged between 32 and 61 were nabbed on Tuesday (Apr 12) for their suspected involvement with a loansharking syndicate.
In a media release on Wednesday, police said the eight suspects were caught during a 12-hour operation which involved simultaneous raids at multiple locations islandwide.
Cash amounting to about S$29,000, mobile phones, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, Internet banking dongles, notebooks, a bank book and bank transaction slips were seized as case exhibits during the operation, according to police.
The suspects are believed to be involved in various roles in the syndicate, police said, including the collection of repayment and disbursement of new loans to borrowers.
Six of the suspects will be charged in court on Thursday. Investigations against the remaining two male suspects, aged 32 and 52, are ongoing.
