60-year-old motorcyclist dies in accident on KJE

An accident involving a motorcycle and a car, and resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, caused a massive traffic jam on the Kranji Expressway (KJE) on Monday morning (Jul 25). 

Police said they received a call at about 5.27am informing them of the accident, which took place during the morning rush hour in the direction of the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) near the Brickland Road exit.

The police also confirmed that a 60-year-old male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Police investigations are ongoing.

In a Facebook post at 8.08am, the police advised motorists to avoid using the road and to take alternative routes.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) first tweeted about the accident at 5.54am, telling motorists to avoid lanes 1 and 2 on the expressway. In another Twitter update at 7.58am, it said the accident had caused congestion to the entrance of the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE).
