4 Singaporeans arrested in New Zealand due to drug bust

Four Singaporeans were arrested in the Gisborne area after an eight-month investigation into the methamphetamine trade, said New Zealand police on their website on Wednesday (Apr 13).

They had imported 700g of methamphetamine, which was destined for the Gisborne and East Coast market, the police added.

According to the website, 37 other people were also arrested in the drug bust. Collectively, they face 245 charges of importing a Class A drug, conspiracy to sell, selling and possession of methamphetamine for supply and cannabis dealing.

The police added that eight properties in the Gisborne area - worth NZ$3.8 million (S$3.5 million) - several bank accounts, vehicles and 400g of methamphetamine were seized along with firearms, cash and cannabis.
