An accident between a bus and a tipper truck on Tuesday evening (Mar 29) injured 28 people and caused massive congestion along the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE).
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was first alerted to the incident in the MCE tunnel towards East Coast Park at 6.17pm.
A bus driver was trapped in his vehicle due to the accident but was freed by SCDF officers using hydraulic rescue tools.
The 28 people injured were sent three different hospitals - 13 to the Singapore General Hospital, nine to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and six to Changi Hospital.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
Ben Chia Lor, a Facebook community sharing traffic developments in Singapore, posted video of the scene of the accident, taken at 7.20pm. It showed the front of a passenger bus completely smashed.
Traffic along the expressway was affected for more than two hours after the accident was reported. The Land Transport Authority said there was congestion along the MCE due to the accident in a series of tweets from 7.18pm to 8.45pm.
