2 men, 3 women arrested for suspected online vice activities

Police have arrested two men and three women for suspected involvement in online vice-related activities.

The five, aged between 20 and 25, were rounded up during a police raid on Tuesday at a Serangoon Road hotel.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the illicit activities were advertised via the internet websites where potential customers could book its services. Two hand phones, some transaction records and cash totalling $1,780 were seized. Investigations are ongoing.

Under the provisions of the Women's Charter, Chapter 353, any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on earnings of the prostitution of another person is liable on conviction to a fine of up to $10,000, or to imprisonment of up to five years, or both. Any male person who is convicted of a second or subsequent offence under this provision shall, in addition to any term of imprisonment imposed in respect of such offence, be liable to caning.
