The Police Coast Guard (PCG) arrested two illegal immigrants – both aged 25 – for unlawful entry into Singapore on Wednesday (Mar 9).

In a news release, police said the PCG detected two floating objects, believed to be swimmers at the sea off Senoko in Singapore waters at about 3.45am.

According to the police, land and sea resources were then immediately deployed to intercept the swimmers. They were intercepted by the PCG 10 minutes later, and found to have no form of identification, including travel documents, with them.

They were arrested for the offence of unlawful entry into Singapore under the Immigration Act (Chapter 133), police added.

PCG Commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hsu Sin Yun said: "This successful arrest is a result of PCG’s resolve and determination in staying ahead of the maritime challenges in keeping Singapore waters safe and secure.”
