Following island-wide enforcement operations against massage establishments between January and April this year, 13 unlicensed massage parlour operators will be charged in court on Wednesday (Apr 13).
In a news release on Monday, the police said the operations were led by officers from the Central Division and had targeted massage establishments that flouted regulations under the Massage Establishments Act. The massage establishments were in Chinatown, Little India, Lavender Street, Jalan Sultan and Coleman Street.
Last month, during a four-day anti-crime operation, licensing breaches were detected at 19 massage establishments.
If found guilty of running massage establishments without valid licences, the operators each face a fine of up to S$1,000 as well as a further fine not exceeding S$50 for every day that the offence continues after conviction.
