124 arrested in four-day anti-crime operation

A total of 124 suspects were arrested in a four-day anti-crime operation, said police in a news release on Monday (Mar 21).

According to the police, they were arrested for their suspected involvement in illegal employment, gambling offences and vice-activities between Mar 17 and 20 this year.

Following the enforcement checks, police said licensing breaches such as overcrowding and unlicensed massage services were detected at 20 public entertainment outlets and 19 massage establishments.

A common gaming house located along Serangoon Road was also raided by the police during the blitz. Fifteen computers, a CCTV system and cash amounting to S$1,075 were seized as case exhibits, according to the news release.

A total of 261 officers had participated in the anti-crime blitz. The checks were conducted at various locations in Tanjong Pagar, Beach Road, Little India, Kampong Bahru, Chinatown, Jalan Besar and Serangoon.

Investigations on the suspects are ongoing, police said.
