The Late Serena Liu’s Husband Is Performing For The First Time Since Her Death At A Charity Concert In September
Taiwanese ballroom dancer Serena Liu’s death in March took everyone by surprise, and elicited an outpouring of condolences and tributes from fans to celebs like Andy Lau and Dee Hsu.
Serena’s husband, Taiwanese singer Shin Lung was the hardest hit by the tragedy. The 48-year-old was so heartbroken by his wife’s death that he lost nine kilograms in a month. His social media posts mourning Serena also received much attention, with netizens rallying behind him to show support. Shin Lung also went on a temporary hiatus from work to focus on caring for their four-year-old daughter, Ni Ni.
Recently, it was reported that the singer will be returning to work soon, and that he will be making his first public appearance at a charity concert on September 5.
When reached for a comment, Taiwanese host Jacky Wu, who owns the management agency Shin Lung is signed to, confirmed the reports.
He shared that he had “given Shin Lung an ultimatum” to return work because he wants the singer to not let his grief overwhelm him and that he should get back on his feet for Ni Ni’s sake.
Jacky added that he will be appearing with Shin Lung at the Tainan gig, which is titled the 'Thankful For You Anti-Epidemic Public Welfare Concert' .
“We'll let him take his time [to progress] step by step, so that he can slowly emerge from the pits [of despair],” Jacky said.
When a reporter asked Jacky how he managed to convince Shin Lung to take part in the concert, Jacky replied: “I tried my best to tell him, that it’s been a long while [and that] no matter what happens, he still has to recover [from this] and return to normal life.” Jacky added that he hopes the singer will be in a better state of mind come September, so that he can officially return to work.
