PRISCILLA Patrick has diversified the role of a radio station. Besides providing entertainment to listeners, radio has also helped to disseminate the latest traffic news to road users.
It has become the most effective medium in notifying listeners on traffic conditions while providing solutions to those who are stuck in road congestion.
With more than 16 years of experience, Patrick, who is Star Radio Group’s head of traffic information, has established herself as the voice that eases listeners as they brave through traffic. Patrick and her team accompany Suria FM, Red FM, 988 and Capital FM listeners daily, with comprehensive live reports.
“Having taken into consideration of the public’s request to have more traffic updates over the years, we are now able to commit to reporting traffic seven days a week,” said Patrick.
“Listeners can stay informed of traffic conditions nationwide, with reports every 20 minutes in the mornings, between 7am and 10am, and in the evenings too, between 4pm and 8pm. Throughout the day, listeners will be updated every half hour from 10am to 4pm. On weekends, there will be hourly reports from 10am till 6pm.
“This is an opportunity for us to help road users, either by giving them the latest traffic reports or extending our help to those in need while they are travelling.
“In fact, should anyone witness or experience anything out of the norm, such as a snatch theft, or an abduction or road bullying, motorists can inform Star Radio’s Traffic crew too, at the above-mentioned times.
“We will then liaise with the appropriate authority based on the incident. Therefore, only genuine situations will be attended to.”
