Performing with a legendary talent like Stevie Wonder is a dream come true for any singer, and for SISTAR’s Hyolyn, she talked about how she was able to fulfill that dream at the 2013 MAMA.
On November 26, Hyolyn held a showcase for her first solo album Love & Hate at the Ilchi Art Hall in Chungdahm-dong.
While talking about her solo debut, Hyolyn shared her experiences performing with Stevie Wonder.
“After the news about me performing with Stevie Wonder went out, a lot of people called me,” said Hyolyn, explaining that everyone from her vocal teachers and trainees to family and friends contacted her. “It was the most I’ve ever been contacted before.”
“When I heard that I would be performing with Stevie Wonder, my mind drew a blank and I felt like I was floating in air. I just couldn’t believe it. I wondered how something like this could happen to me. I was really nervous but anticipated it a lot as well.”
At the 2013 MAMA, Hyolyn performed the hit song, I Just Called to Say I Love You with Stevie Wonder and Aaron Kwok.
“On the stage, I saw that Stevie Wonder sings with so much happiness. I used him as a model and tried to sing with happiness as well,” said Hyolyn.
On November 23, Hyolyn tweeted a photo with Stevie Wonder, saying, “It still feels like a dream that I was able to stand on a dream stage like this. I will continue to grow and show you a better image. Stevie Wonder teacher, I love you.”
Meanwhile, Hyolyn released her solo album on November 26.
