Linda Chung got a ride home on a Police Van
Hong Kong actress Linda Chung was recently condemned by internet users for wasting taxpayers' money, after she wrote in her blog about taking a ride home in a police van, according to a report by Channel News Asia website.
Posted Linda in her blog, "I met with something good today. After waiting a long time for a taxi, a police van drove past and they gave me a ride home."
Almost immediately, Internet users then began accusing Chung of wasting taxpayers' money by getting the police to give her a lift home in their van just because she is a celebrity.
The 27-year-old actress then explained to reporters on Thursday that it was very late and she only drew near the police to get a lift to a place with more public transportation but got a ride home instead.
Said Linda, "It was in the wee hours of the morning. I was waiting at the [TVB studio] gates but still could not get a taxi.
"A police van happened to pass by, so I asked them to give me a lift to where there are more taxis," said Chung, who persevered that the police simply did their duty that night.
"I am not afraid of criticism from Internet users. If the police saw any woman or an elderly person in distress, they would have done the same."
Chung who's a former beauty queen, got into showbiz in 2004 and is best known for her role in the 2007 Hong Kong drama, "Heart of Greed."
