We wonder what Hongkong actor Joe Ma, 52, thinks of people calling his overachieving 21-year-old son, Zai Xiang, the "upgraded version" of him. But we have a feeling Joe is secure enough to deal with that.
The Australia-based Zai Xiang, who is studying mechanical engineering in Sydney, returned to Hongkong recently and the part-time model wasted no time in booking his first commercial shoot. And according to the preview photos released by the brand, he's sharing the spotlight with his dad. Joe shared, “I’ve worked with this brand for five years, and it’s been a very pleasant experience. The brand has also watched my son grow up, so they invited him to be part of it too.”
When reporters asked the actor about how much he and his son were paid to do a commercial together, Joe would only say that it was a “price that made everyone happy”. He then added that he is overjoyed to be a part of Zai Xiang's first commercial.
There have been rumours that Zai Xiang has signed an exclusive contract with Shaw Brothers’ talent agency, which would make him label mates with his dad. Neither the agency nor Joe has acknowledged the speculation, which has only led netizens to assume that the rumours are true.
Although the media didn’t get an opportunity to speak to Zai Xiang, they noted that he’s able to hold his own next to Joe, though he did constantly ask his dad for tips on how to look good for the camera.
But as you can tell from the pics, it's not like he needed them.
Thirsty netizens were clearly excited to learn about the photo shoot, with one such netizen quipping: "My friend asked me to choose between Joe and Joe junior, but why should I choose when I can ogle both of them at the same time?”
