Veteran Taiwanese host Jacky Wu caused quite a scare when it was revealed that he had gotten into an accident while filming variety show Mr. Player in Taiwan’s Pingtung County. According to one of the producers, the 58-year-old was riding a bicycle when he slipped and crashed on the road, most probably ‘cos he was going too fast.
Fortunately, despite being left with quite a few scrapes, cuts, and bruises, Jacky did not sustain any major injuries and is doing fine. Taking to his socials to share some photos of his painful-looking ‘souvenirs’ from the crash, he thanked everyone for their concern and gave an update on his situation.
“I got into an accident on Mr. Player in Wutai, Pingtung. It was a little serious, but I have completed my treatment in the Zuoying District and have already returned to Taipei!” wrote Jacky, adding that he will be making time for a CT scan of his brain as his helmet was “completely shattered”.
He continued, “I would just like to let everyone know that I’m safe. I was a little impulsive and went all out during that last level [of the game]… but it’s a good thing I was in the lead ‘cos I don’t know if someone else might have crashed as well.”
The star went on to reveal that the most severe injury is on his left buttcheek, which is now so swollen that he can’t even put on his pants. “It’s an area that I can’t show to everyone,” he quipped. Still as cheeky (pun intended?) as ever.
Since the accident happened while the Mr. Player cameras were rolling, there is aerial footage of the very moment Jacky crashed, which he also shared online. However, he only included a few seconds of it as the rest of the video is “too bloody”.
Jacky getting patched up

In his interviews with the Taiwanese media, Jacky reassured everyone once again that he is okay, and said that he is currently resting at home. He revealed that he did hit his head pretty badly during the accident, which is why his helmet broke, but like he mentioned in his post, he will be going for a brain scan to make sure there is no internal damage.
When asked why he was so willing to go to such great — and risky — lengths for a variety show, Jacky replied, “Sometimes, work is just like that”, showing just how dedicated he is to his job.
Jacky’s professionalism was also apparent even right after the accident happened. A staff member reported that Jacky kept shouting “It’s okay! It’s okay!” to the crew so that they would not worry about him. He also didn’t want to delay the rest of the shoot, so he received simple first aid treatment on the scene and was only brought to the clinic half an hour later.
