HK Model Kathy Chow May Have Forgiven Her Cheating Husband; Netizens Think She’s Doing It For The Wrong Reasons
About two weeks ago, Hongkong model Kathy Chow’s husband, French jeweller Julien Lepeu, was accused of cheating on her after he was snapped getting way too cosy with another woman at an outdoor cafe.
At that time, Kathy refrained from commenting on the issue, even when reporters showed her the incriminating photos. However, it looks like she finally has something to say about the matter, albeit in an indirect way.
On Sunday (Mar 22), the 45-year-old updated her Instagram with a post celebrating her younger son Avner’s third birthday, but it was the caption that really caught everyone’s attention.
“Thank you to my family and friends for caring for me and loving me all these years,” she wrote. “I’m sorry to have made you all so worried lately! This is an important life lesson! We will do our best to learn from it and move forward!”
Kathy went on to say that “we both” (presumably referring to herself and Julien) believe that “love” has the power to improve their relationship with each other and is the beginning of the solution to their problems.
“In the future, we will continue to work hard, cherish each other, and make progress together for the sake of our children, our family, and each other! I am very thankful that we have so much in our lives! I hope everyone takes good care of their health during this epidemic! Love you all!”
While she didn’t explicitly address the reports of her husband's allegedly philandering ways, many took it as a sign that Kathy — not unlike what Sammi Cheng did with Andy Hui — has chosen to forgive Julien and move on.
The couple has been married for seven years, following a six-year courtship.
Many of her followers applauded her for being able to make such a difficult decision with grace, but there were also a handful who disagreed with her.
“Leave him, you deserve better,” scoffed one. Some even accused her of staying with her philandering husband for the money, saying that it’s “in the nature of rich men to be forgiven” Julien is the son of Richard Lepeu, the former CEO of a luxury goods company that owns brands like Cartier and Montblanc.
This is not the first time Julien has made the news for two-timing Kathy. In 2009, while they were still dating, he had been spotted at a bar with Hongkong starlet Venus Cheung, where he had reportedly introduced her as “my girl”. He had then tried to kiss her while they were strolling on the beach, but she pushed him away.
Venus later claimed that she did not know Julien had a girlfriend, and denied being a third party. Kathy and her sister, Hongkong actress Niki Chow, also defended Julien, claiming that he’s “not that kind of person”. No word on whether they’ve changed their minds about that after the most recent hooha.
