Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan acts for free
Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan will reportedly make a free appearance in his first Hollywood role for director Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, according to a report on the Daily Chilli's website.
The 68-year-old actor stated on his blog that he is making "a mere one scene appearance as a friendly gesture" in the film which adaptation of the classic novel of the same name and also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan.
Bachchan will play Meyer Wolfsheim, a crime figure that helps millionaire Jay Gatsby make his money.
The actor was said to have agreed to take part in the film after Luhrmann visited India last year and contacted him.
"He called last month and wondered if I would do this small role in his film and I agreed. It is a gesture. I have refused any remuneration on this too," posted Bachchan on his public blog.
